Rusty is a bit confused. Polly, our nubian doe has gone up the hill for a few days to the neighbors buck. Rusty is a weather, so there are some things that he can’t do. He is very good at worrying about them however. Polly is in good hands, and when she comes home not only will she have a bun in the oven, but she will have a traveling companion. The folks with the buck were looking for a home for a doe that they freshened last month, and as she is a proven milker, we agreed. This is Polly’s first freshening with us, so to a large extent she is an unknown commodity. Keeping in mind that we are looking for good, productive hand milking goats, we plan on culling the heard in the summer to that extent.
We aren’t sure who will stay and who will go, but dry does or ornery milkers won’t be tolerated.
